We've been spending a lot of time at home recently and you might be feeling like it's time for some changes. Well, you don't have to break the bank to do a little bit of home reno, in fact, you can make any room feel completely new, without having to do much at all.
Kane Hughes, an interior designer from MyJobQuote, has given a few tips to save time, money, and effort while still giving your home a breath of fresh air.
1. Lift your curtain rod higher
Just by installing an extra-long curtain rod and keeping it at least two to four inches below the ceiling, you can trick the mind into thinking more of the wall is glass. Avoid heavily patterned curtains, as these will make your room appear smaller. Instead opt for striped or solid-coloured curtains with bold edging to create the illusion of additional height.
2. Add a large rug to create dimension
A rug can help make a room look finished and spacious, even on carpeting.
3. Rearrange your furniture
A Lot of furniture has been in the same place from the moment we move in. Rather than spending thousands on new furniture, have a play around with what you've got.
4. Hang a spacious mirror
They work particularly well in smaller rooms because they add depth and make a tiny room feel less cramped. Also unlike wall art, you don't have to spend ages hunting for the right piece to match your decor. Play around with colours and shapes while ensuring it's practical for the space.
5. Update your cabinet hardware
You don't need to replace the whole cabinet to give your kitchen a refresh. Changing the hardware on your existing cabinets is a quick and easy way to make your kitchen new. To save even more you could even take the existing cabinet knobs and paint them in a bold new colour or find some new ones down at your local Bunnings or Mitre 10.
Bring in a bench
The quickest way to elevate a room is to bring in a bench at the end of a bed for additional storage or bring it into the living room for extra seating.
