I won’t lie, I originally had beef with Troye Sivan for scheduling the last day of his ‘Something to Give Each Other’ tour on a Monday night, but that animosity was forgotten as soon as Troye turned his mic on.
The Australian icon kicked off his last tour stop at Auckland’s Spark Arena to a massive crowd of incredibly dressed individuals, who didn’t let Monday-itis deter them from having the time of their lives.
I knew the atmosphere of the concert was going to be epic when the crowd did a group sing along to Chappel Roan's 'Good Luck Babe' before the show even started.
He kicked off the show with ‘Got Me Started’, which just scored him his first-ever Grammy nomination for ‘Best Pop Dance Recording’. The title rang true to the vibe of the audience, as we all immediately swung into action.
The arena transformed into one of the hottest nightclubs of all time. What was even better? It felt incredibly inclusive.
Not wasting a beat, he jumped into ‘What’s The Time Where You Are?’
I would love to know how Troye got his fitness up to such an insane level. Mans was dancing and hitting every note without looking remotely out of breath. Meanwhile, I can’t even walk up my work stairs without needing to take five.
He also dropped in a couple of throwback tracks with ‘My My My!’, ‘Bloom’, and ‘Ease’ (announcing “Where my 'Blue Neighborhood' girlies at?").
I went to his ‘Bloom’ tour back in 2019, and the amount his stage presence has grown is INSANE.
Troye can immediately command a room and I felt like I gained 10000 aura points just by being in the same space as him.
The stand-out performance of the night was ‘One Of Your Girls’. Seeing Troye in drag on a screen and then seeing him grind on a chair on stage had everyone questioning their sexuality.
The way he moves and sings the lyrics is top-tier storytelling that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a singer achieve live in concert.
He rounded out the rest of his set with ‘1999’ and ‘Talk Talk’, both collabs with Charli XCX. The roof of the arena would’ve popped off if it weren’t for the bolts that were nailing it in.
I ended up clocking around 5,000 steps from those performances alone because of how much I was moving. It looks like Brat summer is well and truly on its way for us Kiwis.
It didn’t matter who you are, the music and the vibes made you feel like a 10/10 in your element.
Troye left the stage and returned after the standard ‘ENCOREEE!’ cheers and rumbles. He came to sing Honey and Rush wearing diamond-encrusted panties and chaps and the party kept popping off.
Troye would talk to the crowd sporadically to let us know how incredible he thought the audience here in Auckland was, and to cheekily remind the crowd “If my balls pop out don’t post it on TikTok, ya little snakes.”
My only complaint? One hour was not enough at Club Troye. I genuinely could’ve danced for another three. I couldn’t sleep when I got home because I was on cloud nine from adrenaline and incredible vibes.
If you ever have the opportunity to go to a Troye Sivan concert, GO. You won’t regret it.
