For the first time in seven years, the metal legends have dropped a new single, 'Lux Æterna,' from their forthcoming album '72 seasons,' which was also announced this morning. *Cue James Hetfield voice*... Oh, yeah!

Speaking about the new album, which is dropping in April, James Hetfield said:
"72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told 'who we are' by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are.
"I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry."
'72 Seasons' is set to drop April 14th on all formats, and will mark the band's first new LP since 2016's 'Hardwired. To Self-Destruct'.
It's been a hell of a morning, because the band have also announced their M72 World Tour, spanning across 2023 and 2024. Support acts for the US stretch include Pantera, Mammoth WVH and Grea Van Fleet.
No New Zealand dates have been announced yet, but shit we're hopeful that they'll head our way.
Metallica fans online are stoked about the new song and the news of the fourthcoming album and tour.
