Coldplay beats Taylor Swift for biggest stadium show ever with ‘record-breaking’ crowd

That's more than double the amount of people at Eden Park.

Coldplay has broken the record for playing the largest stadium show of the 21st century.

Performing for more than 111,000 fans each night at India’s Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad - it marked the first time the British band has played in India.

In comparison, Taylor Swift's largest ‘Eras Tour’ was at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia on 16 February 2024, where she sang for a crowd of 96,000.

The ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ kicked off in March 2022, and recently performed in Auckland to a sold-out Eden Park across three nights - where they amassed 50,000 each night.

Coldplay lit up Eden Park with an ‘INSANE’ performance of Colour, Fireworks, and their iconic LED Wristbands - a long way from 2001 when they played their first show in New Zealand at a 500-person venue in Auckland.

According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ has sold more tickets than any tour in history, totaling 10.3 million as of December - slightly ahead of Taylor Swift who sold 10.1 Million across her ‘Eras Tour’.

The current tour Coldplay is on has now made $1bn with half of their 175 concerts in Europe, where 5.2 million tickets were sold across 87 shows.

‘The Spheres World Tour’ will resume in April with shows in Hong Kong, China, and Seoul before returning to the US and Canada.

The tour is set to close with 10 sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium in London in August and September this year.
