Netizens have made a number of upgrades to Billy Joel's classic 'We Didn't Start the Fire' to reflect the coronavirus pandemic.
The original song referenced the big news stories from the first 40 years of Joel's life that included the Korean War, hydrogen bomb, space race, Woodstock, Beatlemania, Watergate and many more.
It was first tweeted by The Simpsons writer, Matt Warburton, who said, "Today was like if 'We Didn't Start the Fire' was a day."
Others responded to his tweet, suggesting alternate lyrics to the classic hit song like, "Schools close, Tom Hanks, trouble in the big banks / No vaccine, quarantine, no more toilet paper seen / Travel ban, Weinstein, panic COVID-19, NBA, gone away, what else do I have to say?"
Another responded, "Lotsa snot, crashing stock, Tom Hanks, ships can't dock. Trump says we'll all be fine, face masks on the airlines. No panic in Iran, Safer in Afghanistan."
