Jim Beam Homegrown is saying goodbye to Wellington Waterfront after 2025

It’s a “bittersweet goodbye” but the start of an exciting “new chapter”.

New Zealand’s biggest Kiwi music festival Jim Beam Homegrown is hosting its last year at their iconic Wellington Waterfront location.

After 18 years of unreal performance and unforgettable memories, Homegrown is packing up and headed for a new location to keep the good times rolling.

Since its early days, Jim Beam Homegrown has been the go-to for good Kiwi tunes and community to come together in the capital.

Wellington Waterfront has served as the perfect spot for this incredible journey, Andrew Tuck Managing Director says: “We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey - the artists who’ve graced our stages, the fans who’ve brought the energy, and the city of Wellington for embracing the magic of year after year.”

Wellington has been our heart and home since day one.

He adds: “While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, the festival has outgrown the waterfront, and we’re excited to embrace a new chapter as we move to a new location in 2026.”

The last Homegrown hoorah on Wellington’s waterfront will take place on March 14th and 15th, 2025.

The incredible lineup includes Synthony, Stan Walker, and Lee Mvtthews on Friday and Shapeshifter, Sir Dave Dobbyn, Sons of Zion, Drax Project, P-Money, Kaylee Bell, Elemeno P, I Am Giant on Saturday.

Over a third of the acts on the lineup are making their Homegrown debut, so if you haven’t been, now’s the time to experience a part of NZ music history!

It’s the end of an era in more ways than one, as Kiwi rockers Shihad have announced Homegrown ‘25 is their last.

The band - Jon Toogood, Tom Larkin, Phil Knight, and Karl Kippenberger - revealed back in 2024 they're disbanding this year.

For their last few gigs, it’s less about dwelling on the end of the road. Toogood said he’s “excited” to play their final farewells.

"I want these shows to be absolutely phenomenal. And I know we're capable of it, it's gonna require work, but we're all up for it,” he said.
