Along with being an Oscar-winning, Grammy-owning, world-record breaking recording artist, Billie Eilish is pretty good at making perfume - and her latest one is causing a stir.
Fans in the know have been begging for a new scent from Billie since the release of her wildly successful Eilish, Eilish No.2 and limited edition Eilish No. 3, which all came in the now-iconic bottle in the shape of a female bust.
The 'Birds of a Feather' singer answered the call with a brand new offering 'Your Turn', which is finally available in New Zealand. It's not the most affordable scent on the market, but far from the most expensive, at NZD $120 for a 30ml bottle and $155 for 100ml.
I tried Eilish No.2 when it came out, and fell in love with the woody floral scent, but even more so with the bottle, which has stayed on my dresser long after the perfume was finished.
Apparently, this is part of Billie's M.O - to design bottles that go on to become home decor pieces and live on well beyond their initial intended purpose.
I thought her original bottle would be hard to beat, but I think the new silver dice that hold 'Your Turn' might have done it. Based on a pair of metal dice Billie found and treasured years ago, the design is just effortlessly cool.
Both the bottle and the scent are kind of androgynous - a bit like Billie herself. 'Your Turn' is zesty and earthy at the same time, with bergamot peel, cardamom and ginger.
It's definitely not a girly scent - she already did that with 'Eilish', which was very vanilla-heavy' - but it does have floral notes with night-blooming jasmine and some sweetness with peach skin.
There's a refreshing moment in there with coconut water and the musky undertone of sandalwood. It covers a lot of bases without being overwhelming - and settles beautifully on the skin.
Everyone I've shown the bottle to and stuck my arm out to smell the scent has been taken aback in the best way by how unique they both are. In a world where there are so many fragrances to choose from, Billie has nailed it.
It'd cost you a staggering $68 US dollars to get the perfume shipped to NZ if buying from Billie's official website, but thankfully you can grab it online and in store from Life Pharmacy.
