In my humble, beauty-loving opinion: Mecca's own brand 'Mecca Max' has been going from strength to strength.
I'm #notspon by Mecca (I wish) - I just genuinely think they're doing great stuff.
Their liquid blushes and shadow sticks are a fraction of the costs of similar 'high-end' products and just as good. Their hydrating and blemish-busting skincare range healed my breakouts earlier this year. Even their brushes are legit.
So it's no surprise they've now entered the chat when it comes to body mists - one of 2024's most trending products.
Sol de Janiero (which Mecca also stocks) used to be pretty untouchable in this area, but brands like Mco Beauty and Kmart's OXX have since come to the party with some pretty decent dupes.
Mecca's 'Optimist' range - see what they did there? - looks like a very similar product to the ones I've just mentioned, but I have a feeling they could give them all a run for their money.
They sent us over the three scents to try, and the first thing I noticed was that they feel fresh and different, despite the fact there are already so many good ones out there doing the rounds.
'Holiday Heatwave' has that coconut and vanilla vibe we know and love in a body mist, but with a little sneaky sea salt twist. It's giving beach bag essential. .
'Date Night Butterflies' is definitely the one you'd whip out of your handbag in the bathroom at the bar to do a quick refresh - it wasn't love at first sniff for me, but the way it settles on your skin is actually quite divine.
My favourite has to be 'Top Down', though. It's meant to feel like "hitting the open road for a spontaneous day trip, wheel in your hands and wind in your hair".
As a known passenger princess, I'm not totally sure what this means, but I LOVE how it smells. It's really fruity, with apple and melon notes, but backs it up with a floral bouquet.
Mecca's fragrance lead Steven Glyde says the collection "captures a vibe" and has a "sense of joy and vibrancy" and honestly, I can't argue with that.
At $36 a pop, they're cheaper than Sol De Janeiro, but pricier than the MCo Beauty and OXX dupes, which could see them hit that mid-range sweet spot.
Whichever brand and price point is your fave, you're gonna want at least three diff body mists knocking around in your bag/desk/car this summer.
