We chat to the 10yo Kiwi gal who sang 'Galway Girl' with Ed Sheeran after he 'forgot' the words

"I was a little nervous at the start, then it kind of kicked in and it got better."

Ed Sheeran wowed a record-breaking 48,000 fans at Wellington's Sky Stadium last night, but the pressure may have proven too much for the star when he "forgot the lyrics" to one of his biggest hits. Luckily, a 10-year-old girl had Ed's back and covered for him - phew!

After stopping during the performance of 'Galway Girl', the artist told the crowd he was getting in his own head, convincing himself he was going to forget the lyrics.

"In my head, I was going 'don't mess up the words, don't mess up the words'," Ed repeated.

Despite not knowing the lyrics to one of his biggest tunes, Ed was lucky to have a full crowd of people willing to help, including the lucky girl, Pippa, who saved the show.

The wee gal absolutely nailed the performance, impressing the crowd and taking on the song's verses all on her own - Someone needs to tell her she just sang to a record-breaking crowd!

Clint, Meg and Dan from our very own Edge Breakfast show caught up with Pippa this morning to check in on how she was feeling after a night that we could only dream of.

Pippa explained that she got Ed's attention from her cousin who was holding a sign up in the front row. When Ed asked who could help him sing the song they waved their hands in the air and successfully caught the attention of the singer.

Meg asked: "Did you have that moment where after you got picked you were like 'oh god I actually don't know if I know all of the lyrics. Was there any moment of panic?"

Pippa responded saying that she was unsure of the lyrics but after the initial shock, her adrenaline took over and she had the time of her life!

Dan asked if Ed had a moment with Pippa to ease her nerves and Pippa revealed that Ed gave her a pep talk and a kiss on the forehead.

It's safe to say she'll never be washing her forehead ever again, and I wouldn't either!

Meg told Pippa that she has to be one of the bravest 10-year-olds because the thought of performing for 48,000 people scares her as an adult.

Pippa did such a great job singing on stage, we can't help but think there may be a future career there for the young Kiwi.
