So there's no denying that AI technology is barging its way right into our lives and honestly, it probably won't be long until we are using it in our everyday lives.
Well, that's definitely the case if Open AI's newly-released ChatGPT-4 is able to help me decide what to cook for dinner.
Yep, Open AI have announced their new ChatGPT-4 function which could make our lives a whole lot easier.
For example, the new feature will allow you to take a photo of your fridge, identify the ingredients, and voilà, the AI will suggest what you could make for dinner.
OpenAI's chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever told MIT Technology Review: "GPT-4 is a multimodal large language model, which means it can respond to both text and images."
Sutskever added: "It's also great at explaining jokes. If you show it a meme, it can tell you why it's funny."
Unfortunately, we may have to wait a little longer to use the new feature.
Open AI is holding back on releasing the function to the public over concerns that image analysis may be misused as a spying tool.
AI commentator Paul Duignan told Stuff: "One example is it has the possibility of you showing it a picture of a group of strangers and it might be able to go and collect all sorts of information on them, particularly if like Bing it is connected live to the internet. "
"It's essential that they keep improving the safety features in chatbots. With the development of any knowledge-based system such as these, comes the responsibility to try to make sure that they're used for social good."
So, while it sounds like it may make life a whole lot easier, there are still a few bumps in the road to living with AI.
