The Te Matatini biennial festival, the largest celebration of traditional Māori performing arts in the world, is back for 2025 – and it’s shaping up to be the biggest and most spectacular festival yet!

Taking place from the 25th of February to the 1st of March 2025 at the Bowl of Brooklands, Pukekura in Ngāmotu/New Plymouth, this event will showcase the unmatched power and beauty of kapa haka at the highest level.

With 55 elite kapa haka teams from Aotearoa and Ahitereiria set to compete for the coveted title of National Champion, this festival promises to deliver performances that are nothing short of awe-inspiring. An accumulative audience of approx. 70,000 and 2.5 million viewers on TV or online is expected over the five days!
