Apple announced a bunch of new features coming to their iOS operating system today and girl, group chats, tea-spilling and even finding your next ex will never be the same.
Probs my favourite new feature in iOS 17 is the 'catch up' button Apple has added in group chats. If you miss out on some major goss and the gc absolutely popping off, instead of scrolling all the way to the top, you'll be able to press a little button that will instantly transport you to the first message you haven't seen. You can also reply to any message simply by swiping right on it.
Audio messages will be transcribed, so, if your friends prefer a voice memo gossip sesh, you can consume their tea with no risk of an eavesdropper overhearing and oversharing.
For all the single people out there, giving/getting your number to someone else just got a whole lot easier. In a futuristic move, you'll be able to exchange numbers by simply holding your iPhone near the other person's phone. Bringing your phones close together is how AirDrop will work now, saving that awkward 'how do I get airdrop to work?' convo that always happens.
Your contact name and photo when you call someone can now be made all pretty and nice, similar to how the lock screen's aesthetics became more customisable in the last update. You can change the font of your name, the photo that pops up, or even have your Memoji appear on the screen.
In incredible news for those that hate picking up phone calls, voicemails will be transcribed live on screen. This will let you see what the caller is talking about before deciding to pick up.
Even putting your phone down just got way cooler. Apple announced new displays for your phone when it's on standby mode. It can be a clock, photo frame, an Uber Eats tracker (!!!) and more.
Apple has also added a journal app that'll let you log your daily moods, remind you to write a journal entry, and even make a day more memorable by feeding you photos from the day and asking you to describe them. And, no one can look at your journal as it can only be unlocked using face scan.
The new iOS update with all these features and more is set to roll out in September of this year.
