You've gotta see this little girl's powerhouse haka that's left Kiwis 'tearing up'

“She ain't playing around..."

One little girl has carved up the stage and gone viral for her powerful performance at Kia Hukere Te Hoe 2024.

Last month, the regional kapa haka event Kia Hukere Te Hoe was held in Trafalgar Centre in Nelson and saw hundreds of tamariki bring their A-game.

But one little girl stood out to many and has since gone viral for her strong vocals.

The video filmed and edited by talented NZ videographer Neo Milligan-Richard has been shared across multiple pages including the official @tetauihuotewaka Instagram where it’s racked up 14 million views.

It’s also been shared by @waiatamaicoaching with another 275k views - if you haven’t seen it already, surely that convinces you to give it a watch.

Fans flooded the comments of Waiata Mai Coaching’s video with messages of aroha.

“She ain't playing around,” one commenter wrote. “I tear up every time I see the young warriors do this...so beautiful.”

Another agreed: “Such pride in her eyes! She's amazing!!🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

“She did great!!! So glad to see younger generations learning and keeping their cultural traditions alive and thriving 💟,” said a third.

It’s great to see how important haka is to our tamariki. You might remember, the beautiful haka seven young’uns performed at their dad's tangi. The video initially went viral in December 2022 and again last year.

They sung in harmony and danced in unison, filling what would be a sombre room with joy.

Back in April last year, another six-year-old Kiwi boy wowed by leading the haka tautoko for his Koro's uni graduation.

As his Koro gets onto the stage, the young fella leads his whanau in a haka with a powerful voice.

They truly are the future and, whoah, are we glad to be leaving it in that hands of tamariki like these powerhouses.
