You can bring your old Xmas lights that stopped working back to life with this easy viral hack

"Do not throw them away."

How many Christmas lights have you bought over the years? Do you bin the decorations the moment they stop working? Or did you know there was a hack you could use to bring them back to life?

When putting up her Christmas decorations, TikToker @lizlovery discovered the quick fix that has made her Xmas lights shine bright for years!

She tells her followers: "Here's what to do in the event your Christmas lights stop working before you consider tossing them away"

She's right! Most people are unaware that Christmas lights frequently have replaceable fuses packed into the plug for when the entire string burns out.

Of course, before you even begin to attempt to fix your lights, remember to always unplug from the wall - It seems obvious but the excitement of a fresh string of lights could leave any one of us in danger. It's better to be safe than sorry, right?!

Once you're safe from any electrical danger, check to see if there's a little sliding flap on the plug that contains any fuses.

Tip: most of the time it will have an indication with the word 'open' and an arrow pointing to which way you should slide it.

Ideally, you'll have a few extra fuses still in the box or tied to the end of the lights. If you have them, all you need to do is replace the burnt-out fuses with new ones, and you should be away laughing!

I had absolutely no idea about this hack, now I'm going to spend the rest of my day digging up the old lights stored in the garage to see if I can bring any of them back to life!
