World Record Shearing Attempt Set For December

"It's going to be the hardest day I've ever done, no doubt," Ratima says.

Shane Ratima is a Kiwi shearer who has been plying his trade in Western Australia, a few hours north of Perth, and will be heading back home to NZ soon to attempt a world record shearing feat in December.

Teaming up with Jimmy Samuels and Akuhata Waihape, he explains their aim to shear 660 sheep each in just eight hours, hoping to break the current three-stand-strong wool lamb shearing record of 1,976.

Ratima emphasises the gruelling training and focus on technique, mobility, and conditioning in the build-up to the record-breaking attempt.

He discusses the team's previous experience shearing quickly for a long period of time, noting the skill and endurance of his two teammates.
