‘I’m devastated’: Rita Ora tears up on stage paying tribute to friend Liam Payne

“He was just such a joy to be around on and off stage.”

Rita Ora has been left "devastated" by the death of her collaborator Liam Payne after paying tribute to him at her concert.

During her performance in Osaka, Rita paid tribute to the singer by performing a rendition of ‘For You’ on stage hours after news of Liam’s death broke. The singer was visibly devastated and struggled to sing the lyrics.

One fan wrote, “Keep singing for Liam, he will be shining down.”

Another was amazed by Rita’s bravery saying, “Damn… I wouldn’t have the courage to do this”.

The singer, who teamed up with the One Direction star on the 2018 song ‘For You’, remembered Liam on social media on Thursday by posting a carousel of photos of them working on the track in the studio, going on a publicity tour, and shooting the music video.

"I'm devastated," Rita captioned her Instagram post, adding a heartbroken emoji. "He had the kindest soul, I will never forget. I loved working with him so much - he was just such a joy to be around on and off stage. This tragic news breaks my heart."

Liam was 31 years old. He leaves behind a son, Bear, aged seven, and his girlfriend of two years Kate Cassidy.
