NOT A DRILL: Pizza Hut NZ is bringing back the all-you-can-eat buffet for their 50th birthday

Two words: Dessert bar

Pizza Hut's iconic dine-in buffet is back for one week only, in celebration of 50 years slinging 'za to Kiwis.

If you were ever lucky enough to stuff yourself to the brim at one of the Pizza Hut restaurants, you've probably been missing it ever since.

If you've never been - you're about to LEARN.

The pop-up Hut will feature an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, including garlic bread, chips, salads and soft drinks, and the full glory of the dessert bar will return with soft-serve ice cream, raspberry jelly, chocolate mousse and hot fudge sauce.

The whole thing is going to be short and sweet (literally) - running from September 26th - 29th at Norma Taps in Auckland's City Works Depot. Tickets are $30 per person, and you can head along for a lunch or dinner session.

All the proceeds will be donated to Hato Hone St John Ambulance too, how good?

The last dine-in Pizza Hut spot in New Zealand closed in 2016 - gone, but never forgotten. So much so that one fan, David Whiting, created a change.org petition to bring it back.

Now Pizza Hut is flying David up to Auckland to attend the opening night of the pop up - never give up on your dreams, kids!

"It's going to bring all the memories of childhood birthday parties rushing back," he said in a statement.

Pizza Hut's CEO Arif Khan, who started as a delivery boy for Pizza Hut NZ 25 years ago, says they get asked by a member of the public "at least once a week" to bring back the buffet.

We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 50th birthday.

If you can't make it to Auckland later this month, you don't have to miss out entirely. Pizza Hut is offering a bunch of limited edition retro menu items like apple crumble pizza and Detroit pizza.

Get me in and around this ASAP.
