The perks of sharing Netflix passwords with other friends and family else may come to an end!
Streaming giant Netflix have announced they're planning to trial a new functionality that will allow you to share your passwords with someone else - but with an extra fee.
"We've always made it easy for people who live together to share their Netflix account, with features like separate profiles and multiple streams in our Standard and Premium plans," Netflix director of product innovation, Chengyi Long, said in a company blog post.
The move comes as Netflix clamp down on sharing accounts between households which is "impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members."
The trial, which is launching in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru, will allow users to add 'sub accounts' for two people you don't live with. The fee will cost less than a separate plan, and a primary account holder can still share their account with people in their household via individual profiles.
So expect that if you're sharing a Netflix account with your sister down in Canterbury, your cousin up in Northland, and with your best friend the next suburb away - they better start offering to pay their share of your subscription!
