Navigating The Shepherding Job Market: Expert Tips From Mel Sheppard

“Think of job hunting like buying your first ute—understand what you need and what you can offer," she advises.

As 2024 draws to an end, cadets and students who have graduated from their respective studies are looking for full-time employment, many of whom are interested in pursuing shepherding as a career.

Agriculture Recruitment Specialist Mel Sheppard shares some essential strategies for aspiring shepherds to land their dream jobs.

She emphasises the importance of crafting a standout CV and cover letter, highlighting relevant experiences and unique skills.

Sheppard recommends volunteering in related fields and leveraging social media to boost employability as well as including multimedia elements in applications, like action photos or short videos showcasing skills, to make candidates memorable.

For interviews, she stresses the significance of a tidy appearance, both personal and vehicular, and having prepared questions to demonstrate interest.
