The classic British TV comedy show 'Fawlty Towers' is making a return after 40 years.
'Fawlty Towers' was written by John Cleese and Connie Booth and it first aired in 1975 with six episodes, followed by a second series in 1979 with another six. The show is widely regarded as one of the best sitcoms of all time.
The sequel will be written again by the director and actor of the show - John Cleese, along with his daughter Camilla Cleese who will also be starring in the show.
John Cleese will reprise his role as Basil Fawlty while his daughter Camilla will play the hotelier's recently returned long-lost daughter.
The reboot will explore how the dramatic and cynical Basil navigates the current modern world alongside running a boutique hotel.
One of the executive producers of the show Matthew George talked about how his dream of working on the 'continuation' of this story has come true.
"Meeting John and Camilla was one of the great thrills of my life. I'm obsessed with 'Fawlty Towers' and the legendary characters he created. I've watched the first two seasons so many times I have lost count. I dreamed of one day being involved in a continuation of the story. Now it's come true," Mathew said.
John Cleese also talked about how Matthew was "unlike any producers" and how he had one of the best creative sessions.
"What I like about Matt is that, unlike many producers, he really 'gets' the creative process. When we first met, he offered an excellent first idea, and then Matt, my daughter Camilla, and I had one of the best creative sessions I can remember. By dessert we had an overall concept so good that, a few days later, it won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner. Camilla and I look forward enormously to expanding it into a series.
The show has been consistently been on the top of the comedy lists. In 2000, the show was ranked number one by the British Film Institute in their 100 Greatest British Television Programs.
