Fred Again review: How I got on stage for 2hrs of bangers, connection and confirming the hype

He held our hearts in his hands and the fella was not gentle.

Abeiku from George Mahi Mix and Tayla from the office were blessed to see Fred Again live in Wellington. Jealous? Wait 'till you find out how they managed to be side of stage for the whole concert.

He's gracious, he's locked in, he's Fred again. For the better part of two hours, he held our hearts in his hands and the fella was not gentle. Every song slapped, every move intentioned and most of all, every bit of love was shared.

He had a bunch of lucky punters onstage dancing behind him, including us, which created a Boiler Room vibe.

In true Fred fashion, we only managed to get on stage through pure luck. While going for a wander as Tayla edited some TikToks, I bumped into the stage manager who slipped me an access band as we dapped up. Right place, right time, baby.

It was a privilege to be on stage to witness massive hits like 'Rumble', 'Delilah' and 'Marea (we lost dancing)' (and some new stuff!) But rest assured, whatever your vantage point, you will feel it all.

The concert epitomised connection: from placing the local legend bbyfacekilla on the lineup to sharing the stage with his best friends.

At one point, Fred called Wellington "one of his favourite places in the world" and about halfway through he paused his set to ask everyone to move back nice and calmly so that the people at the front could have some more space. It was just impossible to have left the event last night without a satisfied soul.

PS: Auckland, beware: don't wear kicks you love and be prepared to bond with like-minds. I promise you, you will be moved from head to tail.
