Cody Simpson just qualified for the commonwealth games, but what's Reece Mastin up to?

We also checked in on the Janoskians, and well... wow.

Cody Simpson just came third in the Australian Swimming Championships, meaning he qualifies for the World Championships in June.

Yes, that Cody Simpson. The same one that stole the hearts of every teenage girl in Australia and New Zealand about a decade ago. The same one that graced our eardrums with songs like 'Pretty Brown Eyes' and 'Golden Thing'. That blonde-haired heartthrob is now a world-class swimmer who will be competing in the Commonwealth games.

Cody's swimming prowess has got us thinking, what happened to some of the other Aussie heartthrobs that seemed to take over the cultural consciousness a decade ago? Well, we did some digging and found out so you dont have to.

Reece Mastin Mr. Mastin was first introduced to us on the 2011 season of X-Factor Australia, which he eventually won (spoilers).

His first single 'Good Night' was a massive hit here and over in Aussie, and I just listened to it and OMG the nostalgia.

He had two other huge tunes, 'Shut Up & Kiss Me' and 'Shout it Out'. Now, the Aussie sensation simply goes by Mastin. He released an EP in 2018 called Suitcase of Stories under the new stage name. His most recent release is a single called The River.

Mastin is currently on a ten-year-anniversary tour across Australia to celebrate a decade passing since he won X-Factor. Its good to see he's still doing what he loves and that the whole X-Factor process did not completely drain him of his love for music.

The Janoskians The Janoskians (which stands for Just another name of silly kids in another nation, which I absolutely did not know) were a prank/comedy group that rose to fame on YouTube.

Three of the members are brothers Beau, Luke, and Jai, while the other two, Daniel and James, went to school with them. They also dabbled in music and have released 11 singles, which are all available on Spotify, with teenage anthems such as Real Girls Eat Cake and Friend Zone.

It doesn't seem like the group is up to much these days. The last post on their YouTube channel was from nine months ago. I did manage to find a TikTok about Beau Brooks, the oldest of the group, and it contains some pretty crazy stuff, like him selling his pubes and releasing a cologne called 'Piss'.

On a sadder note, Beau answered a question on his TikTok about whether he keeps in contact with Daniel and James. He said that he asked the two if they wanna be in a video, but they left him on read.

Well, it has been quite the trip down memory lane. Nothing like a bit of nostalgia on a Friday arvo.
